Introduction one hour before the concert with Michael Struck-Schloen
The feelings of a mother who must endure the death of her own child are the focus of the medieval poem which makes the Good Friday events palpable like no other: »Stabat mater dolorosa«. The Latin verse which Giovanni Battista Pergolesi set to immortal music includes the evocation of compassion, observations on the crucified corpse, and finally the hope for our own salvation from death. Two exceptional singers dedicate themselves to this unique score with its intimate contemplation and dolorous compassion. Julien Chauvin, a renowned expert for baroque and pre-classical music, leads the orchestra from the concertmaster position.
