The Gürzenich Orchestra will be giving a guest performance in Basel with two outstanding pieces of the classical repertoire: Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto, the most splendid, brilliant and at the same time most popular of his solo concertos, will open the concert. The soloist is a grand seigneur of the piano, Rudolf Buchbinder, whose interpretation of Beethoven's works sets standards. In the second part, Nicholas Collon, who has been associated with the Gürzenich Orchestra through many concerts, conducts the light-flooded 2nd Symphony by Johannes Brahms.
