Antoine Tamestit is currently one of the world's most sought-after soloists. Together with the Gürzenich Orchestra, he is venturing for the first time into a complete performance of Morton Feldman's cycle of works »The Viola in My Life«. In the discussion concert at the Flora in Cologne, there will be an opportunity to get to know him personally - and his most faithful companion, the "Viola in his Life". (Which, by the way, is one of the most famous instruments from the workshop of Antonio Stradivarius, the so-called "Mahler" viola from 1672). The cyclical performance of Morton Feldman's legendary pieces for viola and ensemble becomes an occasion for a walk through the biography of Antoine Tamestit. Formative listening experiences, the first CD with Paul Hindemith's sonatas, the discovery of the viola through the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, the encounter with contemporary music. All held together by the meditative sounds of the American minimalist Morton Feldman.
