Artist in Residence 2022/23
He is a pioneer and archaeologist at the same time, thanks to his instrument: Harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani is our Artist in residence for the 2022/23 season. With his solo career, he has re-established the harpsichord in the concert halls of Europe, Asia and North America. In doing so, he brings to the stage not only early music repertoire but also contemporary compositions as well as symphonic works by Poulenc, Distler, Martinu, de Falla and Martin, for example, which have remained rather unknown. With the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, he will perform music by Miroslav Srnka and Bohuslav Martinů in two subscription concerts. In addition, he will perform a chamber music program with soloists of the Gürzenich Orchestra.
